Tuesday, 10 March 2009 13:45

The El Paso County Household Hazardous Waste collection facility (3255 Akers Drive) is now open on the second Saturday of each month from 9-1.  It's likely to be a crowded time, so if you can go during the week, that's still advisable (they're open Monday-Thursday from 7-5).  They accept, well, just about any legitimate toxic garbage you have laying around, including TVs (up to 19") and cell phones.

Water service disrupted
Wednesday, 21 January 2009 13:36

Much of the town awoke this morning to find they had little to no water coming out of their taps, when a 30 year old plastic water main broke  along highway 24.  Schools were delayed two hours, and traffic on hwy 24 was affected as well.  Water service to most dwellings has been restored, though a dozen or so may be without water for most of the day.  You can read more in the Gazette.

UPDATE - most of the town is being advised to boil water before drinking, until further notice.  You can read the official notice, and see a map of the affected area, here

UPDATE - The boil order has been canceled!
