Black Hills was denied a conditional use permit for the large natural gas compressor they installed in the Stone Ridge neighborhood last year. One would think they'd know to ask for a permit beforehand for such a large machine, but oh well. Read more in the Courier. Read 0 Comments... >> |

The City Council may have dropped the ball with respect to building a rec center in town (see this older article), but a group of private citizens is picking it up and trying to get something done. The group is called 'Y-Yes', and they have a public meeting tonight from 6:30-8:30 in the cultural center to discuss the YMCA design and their plan to circulate a petition to have a ballot measure added in April asking voters if they want a 1% sales tax to fund this project. To be honest, I'm not sure if this is an effort run solely by private citizens, or if the city is leading this effort, as the email addresses I've seen associated with this are city employees. Either way, if you want to see this project move forward, or would just like to learn more about it, head to the cultural center this evening. The Woodland Park Police Department has started using a free notification service to inform residents, via email or text message, of any relevant alerts. See the article in the Courier for more info. The Forest Service will discontinue the sale of firewood gathering permits November 4th at 4:30; permits are valid for 30 days after the purchase date (more information). Read 0 Comments... >> |
